Sujumi o Sujum[1] Sujum) es la capital y principal ciudad de Abjasia, estado de facto independiente, reconocido por Rusia y reclamado como república autónoma perteneciente a Georgia. Según el censo , tenía una población de 121.406 habitantes, pero tras la Guerra de Abjasia, su población se redujo notablemente llegando a 43.716 en 2003 según el último censo.[2]
En Abjasia, la ciudad es conocida como Аҟəа que según la tradición nativa significa "agua".[3]
