La Liga Calcídica fue una alianza de ciudades calcídicas encabezada por Olinto, que fue fundada tras abandonar las ciudades costeras por consejo del rey Pérdicas II de Macedonia en víspera de la sublevación de los calcideos, botieos y potideatas.[1]
La liga se desarrolló después de la guerra del Peloponeso y en 390 a. C. firmó un tratado con el rey Amintas III de Macedonia. En 382 a. C. muchas de las ciudades griegas al oeste del Estrimón ya habían quedado bajo su dependencia, e incluso dominaba Pela, la ciudad principal de Macedonia.
