La abadía territorial de Montevergine es una sede de la Iglesia católica sufragánea de la arquidiócesis de Benevento, perteneciente a la región eclesiástica Campania. En 2013 contaba 235 bautizados sobre 235 habitantes. Actualmente es pastoreada por el abad Riccardo Luca Guariglia, de la Orden de San Benito.[1]
La abadía fue erigida en 1126 por Guillermo de Vercelli. Con un breve del 8 de agosto de 1879, el papa León XIII sancionó la exención de la abadía de cualquier jurisdicción episcopal.[2]
