La batalla de Drépano enfrentó a la armada romana y a la cartaginesa en las costas de Sicilia, frente a la ciudad de Drépano , resultando la batalla una victoria cartaginesa.
El almirante y gobernador cartaginés de Drépano, Aderbal, ofreció batalla al cónsul romano Publio Claudio, quien confiaba en asustar al cartaginés dado el tamaño de su flota de guerra. El cartaginés, llamando a los mercenarios, les ofreció la posibilidad de una rápida victoria, si presentaban batalla a los romanos, o la incomodidad de un largo asedio.[1]
