La diócesis de Avellino es una sede de la Iglesia católica sufragánea de la arquidiócesis de Benevento, perteneciente a la región eclesiástica Campania. En 2015 contaba con 159.400 bautizados sobre una población de 166.000 habitantes. Actualmente es sede vacante.[1]
El territorio de la diócesis se extiende sobre una superficie de 394 km² y se divide en 64 parroquias[2]
. Comprende la ciudad de Avellino y los municipios de Mercogliano, Pratola Serra, Summonte, San Potito Ultra, Serino, Grottolella, Aiello del Sabato, Forino, Prata di Principato Ultra, Sant'Angelo a Scala, Contrada, Atripalda, Montefredane, Taurasi, Manocalzati, San Mango sul Calore, Candida, Chiusano di San Domenico, Mirabella Eclano, Luogosano, San Michele di Serino, Sant'Angelo all'Esca, Capriglia Irpina, Paternopoli, Fontanarosa, Cesinali, Santo Stefano del Sole, Parolise, Santa Lucia di Serino, Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo, Sorbo Serpico, Monteforte Irpino, Salza Irpina.[3] La sede episcopal es la ciudad de Avellino, donde se encuentra la catedral de la Asunción de María.[4]
