Heraclea Lincestis, también Herakleia Lynkestis fue una ciudad de la antigua Grecia,[1][2]situada en el noroeste del antiguo Reino de Macedonia, capital de la Alta Macedonia o Lincestis. Estaba a unos 60 km de Lychnidus y a menos de 100 de Edesa.
Fue fundada por Filipo II de Macedonia a mitad del siglo IV a. C., en Lincestis, en la que fue la región noroeste del antiguo reino de Macedonia. La ciudad fue llamada así en honor del héroe griego Heracles. El epíteto Lincestis significa «tierra del lince». La grafía Heraclea Lincestis es heredada de la época romana.
