Oud-Vossemeer, el patriarca de Roosevelt Oud-Vossemeer tiene estrechos lazos con una conocida familia presidencial de los Estados Unidos, a saber, la familia Roosevelt. A principios del siglo XVII, el patriarca de la familia Roosevelt emigró de Oud-Vossemeer a Nueva Holanda (Nueva York). El escudo de armas de la familia Roosevelt cuelga en la casa del maestre de obras. En el punto más alto del pueblo se construyó la iglesia neerlandesa reformada. Delante de la iglesia hay un monumento que indica las 4 libertades. El herrero del pueblo, Johannes Verkerke, hizo en el siglo XVIII un pequeño yunque, que todavía se puede ver en la fachada de la antigua herrería en la Voorstraat.
