En el camino de Laaksem a Stavoren, junto al Acantilado Rojo, se encuentra un gran canto rodante, con la inscripción ''Leaver dea as slaef'', y el año 1345. La piedra es un monumento para conmemorar que hace más de 650 años, el conde holandés Guillermo IV, en un intento de someter la región frisona, fue derrotado por los frisones durante la Batalla de Warns. En 1951 se erigió el monumento en el Acantilado Rojo. Bajo el lema ''Leaver dea as slaef'', libremente traducido como ''Prefiero ser libre que oprimido'', se conmemora cada año el último sábado de septiembre la Batalla de Warns.
