Steenbergen es una ciudad neerlandesa, situada en el oeste de la provincia de Brabante Septentrional. El lugar se encuentra en el municipio del mismo nombre y tiene 12,555 habitantes. Steenbergen está conectado al Volkerak a través del Steenbergse Vliet, además se encuentra en la carretera nacional N259 y en la A4.
Steenbergen probablemente fue fundado en la segunda mitad del siglo XIII y desde la primera mitad del siglo XIV se considera una ciudad. Tiene una rica historia y creció en los siglos XIV y XV, gracias a la extracción de sal y al comercio con Amberes y ciudades flamencas como Brujas y Gante, convirtiéndose en una ciudad comercial. Cuando, por diversas razones, comenzó el declive económico, Steenbergen se volvió más importante como ciudad fortaleza y guarnición en el siglo XVI. La fortaleza formó parte de la línea de agua de Brabante Occidental a partir de 1628.
