Nagele se encuentra junto a las siguientes carreteras provinciales: la N352, la N716 y la N713. También está cerca de la A6. El nombre Nagele proviene de la isla del mismo nombre, que se encontraba entre Urk y Schokland y se mencionó por primera vez en 1138. Antes de eso, había un agua al norte de Urk con el nombre de Nagel o Nagele; este nombre se usó hasta el siglo XX. Su significado sigue siendo desconocido. En la Edad Media, Nagele desapareció en las olas.
