En el número 415 se encuentra la antigua casa de Gerard van het Reve. Gerard van het Reve vivió aquí con sus padres desde 1938 hasta 1948 y escribió 'Las Noches'. El libro describe los últimos diez días de 1946 desde la perspectiva del empleado de oficina de 23 años, Frits van Egters. El número 415 (entonces número 116) fue el modelo de la casa en la que se desarrolla 'Las Noches', que en el libro se llama Schilderskade 66. A pesar de la gran apreciación por el talento del joven escritor, Godfried Bomans describió el libro como 'tan sombrío, tan despojado de toda positividad, tan gris, tan cínico y completamente negativo'.
