Visvliet es un pueblo en el municipio de Westerkwartier en la provincia de Groningen, Países Bajos. El pueblo tiene 280 habitantes. Visvliet se encuentra en el lado groningués del río Lauwers. En el lado este del pueblo corre el Visvlieterdiep. El Lauwers es conocido desde la Batalla de Boorne en 734 como un río fronterizo; primero entre las áreas francas y frisias, y luego, en la Edad Media, formó la frontera entre Westerlauwers y Oosterlauwers Friesland. Más tarde, el río se convirtió en la frontera entre Groningen y Friesland. Los derechos de usufructo estuvieron en manos de los Estados de Friesland desde 1578 hasta 1637.
