Visvliet ist ein Straßendorf in der Gemeinde Westerkwartier in der niederländischen Provinz Groningen. Das Dorf hat 280 Einwohner. Visvliet liegt an der groningschen Seite des Flusses Lauwers. An der Ostseite des Dorfes verläuft das Visvlieterdiep. Die Lauwers ist seit der Schlacht an der Boorne im Jahr 734 als Grenze bekannt; zuerst zwischen den fränkischen und friesischen Gebieten, um dann im Mittelalter die Grenze zwischen Westerlauwers und Oosterlauwers Friesland zu bilden. Später wurde der Fluss zur Grenze zwischen Groningen und Friesland. Die herrschaftlichen Rechte waren von 1578 bis 1637 in den Händen der Stände von Friesland.
