Balk es una aldea en el municipio de De Friese Meren, en la provincia neerlandesa de Frisia, que se encuentra al noroeste de Lemmer, entre Harich y Wijckel. Por el pueblo fluye el río Luts. En 2021, la aldea contaba con 4.175 habitantes. Balk se originó junto a un simple puente de viga sobre el Luts, de ahí el nombre del lugar. Más tarde, este puente de madera fue reemplazado. La localidad aparece por primera vez en 1491 como Balc. En 1509 fue mencionada como toe balc, en 1520 como Wyckelderbalk y en 1573 como Balck. Inicialmente, Balk pertenecía a Harich.
