El Broeresloot es uno de los dos enlaces entre el Tjonger y el Tjeukemeer. El canal, con una longitud de 3 km, fue excavado por orden de Jelle Broers Hylckama, quien en ese momento era grietman de Haskerland. Sobre el Broeresloot se encontraba el puente Vierhuister en la N924, también conocido como puente Ruytenschildt. Este puente tenía una baja altura de paso y no podía abrirse, por lo que solo los barcos bajos podían utilizar esta conexión. En 2015, el puente fue reemplazado por un nuevo puente que tiene 60 metros de mayor altura de paso.
