En el Kachelduin había antiguamente una casa de guardabosques con una estufa y una chimenea. De ahí el nombre "Kachelduin". Desde la cima de la enorme duna de 18 m de altura, tiene una vista fantástica sobre la orilla del mar y las Dunas del Norte que forman parte de “El Duin Holandés” de Staatsbosbeheer. Bosques protegidos, llanuras abiertas y valles de dunas húmedas se alternan.
