En la ladera de Tankenberg se construyó en 1948 una capilla en agradecimiento de que Oldenzaal había sobrevivido prácticamente ilesa los años de guerra, y también como recuerdo de tres oldenzalenses que perdieron la vida durante las acciones bélicas. El terreno en el que se construyó la capilla fue proporcionado por el fabricante de textiles Gelderman. La capilla fue construida con arenisca de Bentheim y fue consagrada el 29 de agosto de 1948 por el Deán I.H. van de Berg. En la piedra conmemorativa a la derecha de la pared exterior se encuentran los nombres de J.H. Engelbertink, quien cayó en Grebbeberg el 13 de mayo de 1940, el sr. Joan Gelderman, un luchador de la resistencia que fue ejecutado en el campo de Vught el 4 de septiembre de 1944, y G.J.H. Wolbers, un miembro de la resistencia que fue asesinado por alemanes en fuga el 2 de abril de 1945.
