Sulla pendici del Tankenberg, nel 1948 è stata costruita una cappella in segno di gratitudine per il fatto che Oldenzaal è riuscita a sopravvivere quasi indenne agli anni di guerra, ma anche come ricordo di tre oldenzaliani che persero la vita durante i conflitti bellici. Il terreno su cui è stata eretta la cappella è stato messo a disposizione dal produttore tessile Gelderman. La cappella è stata costruita in arenaria di Bentheim ed è stata consacrata il 29 agosto 1948 dal decano I.H. van de Berg. Sulla pietra commemorativa a destra del muro esterno sono incisi i nomi di J.H. Engelbertink, caduto il 13 maggio 1940 a Grebbeberg, mr. Joan Gelderman, un combattente della resistenza, fucilato il 4 settembre 1944 nel campo di Vught, e G.J.H. Wolbers, un membro della resistenza, ucciso il 2 aprile 1945 da tedeschi in fuga.
