Ves la Slaperdijk de 1526-1528. Esta dike es una defensa secundaria contra el agua. Si algo sale mal con la defensa marina, hay un extra de reserva hacia la tierra detrás de ella. En 1570, la defensa marina se rompió. Esta dike mantuvo seco el área detrás de la dike en ese momento.
