Ammerstol es un pueblo en el municipio de Krimpenerwaard, en la provincia holandesa de Holanda Meridional. El pueblo tiene 1.715 habitantes y se encuentra en el lado norte del río Lek en Krimpenerwaard. El nombre Ammerstol proviene de "tol", que era el lugar donde se cobraban impuestos de peaje. Ammerstol recibió derechos de ciudad en 1322, pero como se consideró demasiado costoso, Ammerstol seguía siendo un pueblo. La economía se basaba en el comercio de salmón en ese momento. En Ammerstol había una subasta de pescado que a principios del siglo XV se trasladó a la ciudad vecina de Schoonhoven; en el siglo XVIII, la subasta de pescado volvió. También había muchos cesteros activos.
