De Smockelaer está acogedoramente situado en una granja cuadrada del siglo XVIII, completamente restaurada en estilo. Ubicado en la parte más al sur de Limbrico del Sur, en la cima de las laderas del valle de Geul, al noreste de Slenaken, a 250 metros de la frontera belga.
El nombre está inspirado en el romanticismo de las antiguas prácticas de contrabando en la región fronteriza. De Smockelaer ofrece casas de vacaciones de lujo para grupos. Algunas de estas casas de vacaciones tienen piscina y sauna privadas.
