En la periferia de Sittard, junto al área natural de Schwienswei, se encuentra el complejo monumental de la Stadbroekermolen. El duque Guillermo de Gulik otorgó en 1582 un permiso para la construcción de este molino de agua. Desde 1846, la familia Roufs fue la propietaria. Ellos comercializaban su trigo y harina de centeno por toda la Baja Renania, Bélgica y Alemania, y en 1907 reemplazaron la rueda de agua por una turbina con sistema de molienda.
En 1955, Roufs vendió el complejo al municipio de Sittard, tras lo cual el molino cayó en desgracia. En 1990, el único complejo fue restaurado a su antigua gloria, incluidas las transmisiones hidráulicas. Ahora es un lugar encantador para fiestas y reuniones.
