El Keelven es un área natural con bosques de pinos, pantanos y brezos. En el área hay varias rutas de senderismo, que varían de 4 a 9 km. Estas son accesibles desde el aparcamiento cercano al Keelven en la Provincialweg en Someren-Heeze. También hay caminos para bicicletas que recorren el área (parte de la red de puntos de ciclistas). Además, hay rutas de montañismo señalizadas en el área. Desde 2017, también hay una ubicación de hostelería junto al aparcamiento del Keelven: De Soete Inval Vennenhorst. En el área también hay Highlanders escoceses, que ayudan a evitar que el brezo crezca demasiado.
