El valle de la Gulp es uno de los valles más hermosos de los Países Bajos. Un ojo atento se habrá dado cuenta de que el valle no es simétrico (un valle asimétrico, por así decirlo). La pared del valle orientada hacia el oeste es mucho más empinada que la orientada hacia el este. Esto podría haber sido causado durante las glaciaciones, cuando las pendientes occidentales y meridionales se descongelaron más rápidamente que las orientales. Las aguas de deshielo y de lluvia podían arrastrar el terreno descongelado más fácilmente, lo que hacía que la pendiente fuera más pronunciada.
