Das Tal der Gulp ist eines der schönsten Täler der Niederlande. Ein aufmerksames Auge wird bemerkt haben, dass das Tal nicht symmetrisch ist (ein sogenanntes asymmetrisches Tal). Die zum Westen gerichtete Talwand ist viel steiler als die nach Osten. Dies könnte während der Eiszeiten verursacht worden sein, als die westlichen und südlichen Hänge schneller auftauten als die östlichen. Das Schmelzwasser und Regenwasser konnte den aufgetauten Boden leichter wegspülen, wodurch die Hänge steiler wurden.
