La valle del Gulp è una delle valli più belle dei Paesi Bassi. Un occhio attento avrà notato che la valle non è simmetrica (una cosiddetta valle asimmetrica). Il versante della valle rivolto a ovest è molto più ripido di quello a est. Questo sarebbe causato durante l'epoca delle glaciazioni, quando i pendii occidentali e meridionali si scioglievano più rapidamente di quelli orientali. L'acqua di fusione e quella piovana potevano facilmente lavare via il terreno sciolto, rendendo il pendio più ripido.
