La Plaza Raadhuisplein es una plaza diseñada de manera parque en el centro de Emmen. La plaza está rodeada por el Teatro Atlas, el Ayuntamiento y el centro comercial de Weiert. La plaza se inauguró en 2015 como un vínculo entre el centro de Emmen y el zoológico Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen.
En el marco de la renovación del centro de Emmen, el municipio quería establecer una mejor conexión entre el centro y la nueva ubicación del zoológico. Por ello, se decidió construir una nueva 'plaza central' sobre la carretera Hondsrugweg. La plaza fue diseñada por la oficina de paisajismo alemana Latz + Partner y costó aproximadamente 12 millones de euros. El agua juega un papel principal en la plaza. Además de la carretera Hondsrugweg, también hay un gran aparcamiento subterráneo bajo la plaza. El 26 de junio de 2015, la plaza fue oficialmente inaugurada. En la plaza, se encuentra, además de la obra de arte "Egnoaber" de Nick Ervinck, un parque infantil y un parque de patinaje. En 2016, la plaza ganó en el Premio de Arquitectura de Drenthe tanto el premio del jurado profesional como el premio del público.
