El canal va desde el Hoge Vaart hacia el sureste y termina en el Bosque de Hulkestein cerca del Tocht de Wiel. El canal y la franja adyacente sirven como conexión ecológica entre, por un lado, el Hoge Vaart y, por otro lado, el Bosque de Hulkestein y el adyacente Horsterwold. A una escala más pequeña, el Rassenbeektocht también forma la conexión ecológica entre dos áreas naturales adyacentes al canal, el Gorzenveld en el lado noreste cerca de la Gooiseweg y el Gruttoveld, que se encuentra aproximadamente a mitad de camino en el lado suroeste del Rassenbeektocht.
