El Hekenbroek se encuentra al este de Doesburg y al norte de Hoog-Keppel. El área de 67 hectáreas está gestionada por Natuurmonumenten. El arroyo Rojo que fluye por el área ha sido restaurado, lo que ha beneficiado a la flora y fauna de la zona. En el área viven especies de animales en peligro como el pequeño pavo real y el sapo de ajo.
