Esta área forestal se encuentra exactamente en la parte más estrecha de los Países Bajos. 't Hout está atravesado por arroyos: el Vloedgraaf corre por el medio y el Geleenbeek por debajo. El agua y el refugio atraen a los animales. El martinete caza peces desde las ramas que sobresalen y el castor roe un árbol aquí y allá.
Hay un refugio en el medio del bosque, en caso de que el clima no sea bueno. En el lado este hay una conexión con la reserva natural de IJzerenbos. Con la bicicleta puedes combinar las dos reservas naturales con una pausa para el café en medio.
