El Roble Hueco
El Roble Hueco es un término conocido en el pueblo de Houthem – Sint Gerlach.
Se dice que el Santo Gerlaco vivió allí y también se llama así al café del pueblo.
Pero ahora también hay un verdadero roble hueco cerca de Houthem. Este árbol se encuentra solo en el campo al norte de Kloosterbosch y ahora ha quedado hueco en la parte inferior debido a la vejez, un rayo y enfermedades.
Probablemente fue plantado allí para marcar el camino peatonal que pasa entre las parcelas para los agricultores.
Este árbol también fue usado como un punto de referencia por los cartógrafos. Se dice que ya aparece en mapas realizados por encargo de Napoleón. Yo mismo he logrado encontrarlo en un mapa de 1864.
Sin embargo, los expertos estiman que la edad de este roble solitario es de 250 a 300 años.
Así que, literal y figurativamente, un “viejo resistente”...
