La Pasarela Verde es una amplia avenida en Maastricht sobre el túnel Willem-Alexander, con un camino para bicicletas y peatones de 6 metros de ancho en el centro y mucho verde a ambos lados.
Fue inaugurada el 29 de marzo de 2018 por el Rey Willem-Alexander y tiene una longitud total de 3,6 km.
El único túnel para automóviles de dos capas debajo ya estaba operativo, concretamente según lo planeado y dentro del presupuesto, en la noche del 15 al 16 de diciembre de 2016 por la entonces ministra de Infraestructura y Medio Ambiente, Melanie Schultz van Haegen.
Tanto la Pasarela Verde como el túnel Willem-Alexander han reemplazado la concurrida carretera A2 que hasta entonces atravesaba la ciudad (“con los únicos semáforos entre Ámsterdam y Milán”) y formaba una gran barrera entre los barrios adyacentes.
Ahora la Pasarela Verde también establece una bonita conexión entre la zona de propiedades “Buitengoed Geul y Maas” en el norte, tres parques (el Parque Lourdes, el Parque de la Libertad y el Parque Naranja) en el centro y el barrio Randwijck en el sur.
