El Elperstroom es un arroyo en Drenthe. El arroyo brota en Schoonloo y fluye a través del bosque al este de Elp hacia el canal de Oranje. El agua se canaliza por debajo del canal y en el otro lado se convierte en el Westerborkerstroom.
El valle del arroyo fue designado en 2010 como un área Natura 2000. Para combatir la desecación del arroyo y el valle circundante, se eleva gradualmente el nivel freático. A lo largo del tiempo se han cavado en la zona muchos drenajes y zanjas, que causaban una rápida evacuación del agua. Al rellenar estas zanjas y drenajes, se intenta retener el agua en la zona por más tiempo. La especie de mariposa muy rara, la luna plateada, depende del violetas de agua, que prospera en un entorno rico en agua. También el alcaudón gris, bastante raro en los Países Bajos, tiene aquí un área de cría.
