Tienhoven es un pequeño pueblo en el municipio de Stichtse Vecht, en la provincia neerlandesa de Utrecht. El pueblo tiene 1.755 habitantes.
Un terreno, de diez hectáreas, fue vendido en 1243 por Herman van Maarssen al capítulo de San Pedro en Utrecht. Debido a esto, el capítulo se convirtió en el propietario del territorio de Tienhoven. El capítulo vendió sus derechos en 1621 a la familia Ploos van Amstel. Ya en la Edad Media había una capilla en Tienhoven, pero Tienhoven nunca fue una parroquia independiente. Solo después de la Reforma, con la designación de un predicador en 1604, se convirtió en una comunidad eclesiástica independiente. A esta comunidad también pertenecían los habitantes de Maarsseveen y Breukeleveen.
