Desde el barrio rojo tienes una hermosa vista del molino de eje de 1818. ¿Alguna vez has oído hablar del derecho al viento? El primer propietario del molino, Bartolemeus de Vos, tenía que pagar tres florines de renta anual por el uso del viento.
El molino es un molino de grano y un molino de pelado. Es uno de los molinos de eje más antiguos de los Países Bajos y uno de los cuatro que aún se encuentran en Zelanda. Además, es el único molino de eje en Zelanda que tiene una instalación de pelado para cebada. El molino de Retranchement tiene una envergadura de 20,70 metros. El molino es capaz de moler y todavía se utiliza para moler grano de forma voluntaria. Desde 1643 hay un molino en este lugar. El actual molino fue reconstruido en 1818, después de que fue derribado por el viento.
