Los primeros cruzados se establecieron en Brabante en Sint Agatha y en ’s-Hertogenbosch. Tras la toma de ’s-Hertogenbosch por las tropas de Frederik Hendrik, todos los monjes varones tuvieron que abandonar la ciudad. A través de Schijndel llegaron en 1636 a Uden, donde se disfrutaba de libertad de culto.
Construyeron en 1652 el convento en la Vorstenburg que más tarde venderían a las birgittinas. Alrededor de 1700 se construyó un nuevo convento junto a la capilla de O.L. Vrouw ter Linden que atraía a muchos peregrinos. Los cruzados se comprometieron con la veneración a María. En 1743 fundaron una escuela latina, destinada a formar sacerdotes. Tras la disolución de la escuela latina en 1879, siete años más tarde se fundó el Colegio del S. Cruz, con un internado desde 1922 debido a la enorme afluencia de estudiantes.
