The first Crusaders settled in Brabant in Sint Agatha and in 's-Hertogenbosch. After the capture of 's-Hertogenbosch by the troops of Frederick Henry, all male monks had to leave the city. They ended up in Uden in 1636 via Schijndel, where religious freedom prevailed. They built the monastery at Vorstenburg in 1652, which they would later sell to the Brigittines. Around 1700, a new monastery was built next to the chapel of O.L. Vrouw ter Linden, which attracted many pilgrims. The Crusaders dedicated themselves to the veneration of Mary. In 1743, they established a Latin school intended to train priests. After the dissolution of the Latin school in 1879, the College of the Holy Cross was founded seven years later, with a boarding school established in 1922 due to the enormous influx of students.
