’t Heechsan (Hoogzand) es la parte más antigua del pueblo de Eastermar y se encuentra al norte del pueblo. La primera mención del lugar data de 1422, cuando se menciona como Aestermer. Esta aldea también se llama Hoogzand-Oostermeer. Originalmente, era el núcleo del pueblo de Eastermar. Se sitúa al final de una morena, una área donde se ha acumulado material dejado por un glaciar en movimiento. El terreno aquí es tres metros más alto que el Bergumermeer.
La antigua iglesia de Eastermar fue construida en Hoogzand y estaba hecha de ladrillo, los llamados ladrillos de monasterio, lo cual dice algo sobre su antigüedad. Las campanas colgaban en una sencilla casa de campanas.
En la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, la nave de la iglesia fue demolida, pero la torre, que estaba cubierta de hiedra, fue conservada. La iglesia de reemplazo fue construida unos cientos de metros más al sur, en Hoogzand.
