Santurce es un barrio del municipio de San Juan, Puerto Rico. Según el censo del año 2010, poseía una población de 81.251 habitantes conservándose como el barrio más poblado de todo Puerto Rico, aún y habiendo perdido más de la mitad de la población desde que alcanzó su máximo histórico en el censo de 1950. Posee además una superficie terrestre de 13,57 km² y una densidad de 5.987,5 hab./km² .[2] Dicha densidad hace de Santurce una de las zonas más densamente pobladas de todo Puerto Rico.
El nombre del barrio surge en 1880 en honor a Don Pablo Ubarri y Capetillo, I Conde de San José de Santurce, quien era originario de la localidad vizcaína de Santurce en España. Previamente y desde que el territorio fuere anexado a la capital en 1862, el barrio era conocido como Cangrejos. Dicho barrio fue la sede del centro urbano del disuelto municipio de San Mateo de Cangrejos.
