En la Batalla de Vimeiro [4] el 21 de agosto de 1808, el ejército británico bajo el general Arthur Wellesley derrotó al francés bajo el mando del mayor general Jean-Andoche Junot cerca del pueblo de Vimeiro , cerca de Lisboa, Portugal durante la Guerra Peninsular. Esta batalla puso fin a la primera invasión francesa de Portugal.[5][6]
