La iglesia actual es lo que queda del monasterio construido en 1599 .
Fue remodelada en el siglo XVII y posteriormente parte de la iglesia fue utilizada como hospital militar. Tras un incendio en la Rua de Almacave, la entrada fue remodelada de forma importante en 1916.
En el interior de la iglesia destaca una estatua de Nuestra Señora (siglo XVI), tallada en madera, y la pintura del altar mayor , una bella pintura del siglo XVII que hace referencia a la muerte de San Francisco. En la sacristía, merece la pena admirar el hermoso parterre con las pinturas que hacen referencia a la vida de San Francisco, así como la pintura del techo. En la capilla de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, podemos admirar una hermosa reja de hierro del año 1803, así como paneles de azulejos que hacen referencia a la Pasión de Cristo.
