En 2023, en el espacio del antiguo Paiol do Açadogue, en la Fortaleza de Valença, se inauguró el Centro de Interpretación de los Fuertes Abaluartados de Raia.
En el Centro de Interpretación, el visitante podrá conocer la historia de los 1.319 km de frontera que forman la frontera luso-española y las 75 fortificaciones repartidas por Portugal y España. Paneles, mapas, pantallas táctiles, restos arqueológicos de las excavaciones realizadas en la Fortaleza de Valença e incluso un uniforme del 4º Regimiento de Artillería de Valença cuentan esta historia y la importancia y singularidad de Valença dentro de este conjunto.
Este centro de interpretación se integraría en una ruta que también incluiría centros de interpretación, que se abrirían en Almeida, Elvas y Marvão. El objetivo principal de la Ruta de las Fortalezas Abaluartadas de Raia es crear un producto turístico cultural nacional, vinculado a una candidatura de Patrimonio Mundial que se desarrollará en paralelo, creando una ruta con sello de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO.
