La catedral de San Martín de Bratislava, construida en estilo gótico, fue erigida sobre los cimientos de una iglesia anterior en este lugar. La catedral es una de las iglesias más bellas y antiguas de Bratislava. En particular, entre 1563 y 1830, esta iglesia a menudo fue el escenario de las coronaciones de los reyes húngaros. Bajo la iglesia se encuentra un cementerio donde descansan personas importantes e influyentes. Desde 1847, una réplica de la corona dorada de San Esteban se halla en la torre de la iglesia.
