Cada año, una columna de intensa luz azul es enviada al cielo desde este lugar. Se conoce como 'Tributo de Luz'. Este período también coincide con la migración de las aves. Las aves están extremadamente atraídas por esa luz y esa luz interrumpe su vuelo. El resultado es que comienzan a agruparse alrededor de ese pilar de luz. Los números y la densidad son tan grandes que el enjambre incluso se ilumina en las pantallas de radar. El biólogo Benjamin van Doren comenzó a estudiar el fenómeno y descubrió que el grupo puede contener hasta 1.1 millones de aves.
