Lans est une commune de 1129 habitants dans le district d'Innsbruck-Land, en Tyrol. La commune se situe dans le district judiciaire d'Innsbruck. Le village se trouve à huit kilomètres au sud d'Innsbruck, dans le massif montagneux du sud-est, au pied du Patscherkofel. Le lac de Lans s'est formé pendant la période glaciaire et est alimenté par des sources souterraines. C'est une zone de loisirs pour la population d'Innsbruck. Dans la commune se trouvent le parcours de golf de Sperberegg et le centre de santé de Lanserhof. En bordure du village passe le train de montagne qui relie Lans à la commune voisine d'Igls et à Innsbruck.
