Le château d'Itter est un petit château dominant le village d'Itter dans le Tyrol autrichien, à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l'ouest de Kitzbuehel. Il est connu pour avoir servi de lieu de détention pour un certain nombre de personnalités et officiers généraux français pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Le 5 mai 1945, la bataille du château d'Itter a opposé, d'un côté, des troupes américaines aidées par des soldats de la Wehrmacht et par des personnalités politiques françaises détenues dans cette forteresse, et de l'autre, des éléments de la Waffen-SS.
