À la fin de 1914, l'occupant a rassemblé 75 000 pigeons dans le parc du Jubel à Bruxelles pour les exterminer ensuite tous. Des dizaines de colombophiles, pour qui leurs oiseaux signifi aient tout, se sont suicidés.
