Bru est une eau minérale pétillante qui était déjà utilisée au XVIIe siècle par les moines de l'abbaye de Stavelot. Ils mettaient en bouteille cette eau naturellement gazeuse. En raison de sa très faible teneur en sel, Bru se marie parfaitement avec les aliments car elle n'influence pas le goût. Au Ier siècle après J.-C., Pline l'Ancien écrivait déjà sur les sources mystérieuses des Ardennes. Il est probable que cela incluait également la source de Bru.
