La Forêt du Monastère est une zone naturelle dans le nord de la Flandre-Orientale et se situe entre Zelzate et Wachtebeke. C'est, tout comme la Forêt de la Bruyère et la Forêt des Braconniers, l'un des derniers vestiges de ce qui était autrefois une vaste zone de forêts et de bruyères s'étendant de Maldegem à Stekene. La plupart des arbres de la forêt actuelle ont été plantés au cours des 200 dernières années ; avant cela, il s'agissait principalement de landes, comme on peut le voir clairement sur la carte de Ferraris.
