Lors de la construction d'un parking à la cathédrale Saint-Rombaut en 2010, une fosse commune a été découverte ici. 41 squelettes ont été trouvés les uns sur les autres. Cette fosse commune date de la Guerre des Paysans de 1798.
L'attaque sur Malines a échoué et 41 paysans ont été exécutés ici, au pied de la tour Rombout.
